Use of pipe from British to British Isles

I object to the use of the pipe from British to British Isles in this article for three reasons. Firstly it is not referenced. Secondly we are mixing countries (Canada, Australia & America) with a geographical region. And lastly, it fails WP:OVERLINK. I propose that the wikilinks to all the countries mentioned are removed as the simplest solution. Bjmullan (talk) 10:22, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I didn't get any of that, but feel free to take out the links if it makes you happy.--Georgiasouthernlynn (talk) 20:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
The issue here is not one of correctness or accuracy, it's simply that this article included the term "British Isles", albeit in a piped link. British Isles is a controversial term as far as a small number of Wikipedians are concerned (it's of no consequence to the rest of the world) and you are now witnessing the arse end of a concerted campaign to remove the term from the encyclopedia. Maybe its use here was incorrect; I don't know, I've not looked into it. I just thought I'd alert you to the background in case you were unaware of it. LemonMonday Talk 16:15, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
