Trivia

[edit]

Some original research and unverified facts have been removed from the trivia section. Justification is given below. Please discuss if you disagree:

Inspired songs: The first was an unreleased demo track and probably can't be sourced. The second is a rare non-album track recorded at a time when - let's face it- Michale pretty much made up the lyrics as he went. To claim these were inspired by this episode is a stretch and unverifiable.

Milk commercial: This has a slightly similar theme to the episode, but so do about a million other things. There is no evidence that this was in any way influenced by the episode, nor is it likely that a valid source could ever be found.

I have also "fact" tagged some of the other statements that seem more plausible but need citations to verify that they were really influenced by this episode. Sbacle (talk) 05:32, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Similar comic book story

[edit]

Years ago I remember reading a comic book story I what I think was a EC reprint. In it a crusading doctor dies and goes to Heaven. Quickly bored he finds and uses a back staircase to into Hell and do the same thing there he did in life. The Devil and two of his minions, tired of the doctor's constant crusading against the conditions in Hell, return him to Earth.

Waking up in a hospital bed he is told that he was dead for nearly five minutes. Asked what it (the afterlife) was like the caption reads something 'the doctor's mind returns to the fire pits, and the atmosphere of sulfur' followed by his reply "It was Heaven."

I'm currently trying to find the name of the story and what comic book it appeared in.--BruceGrubb (talk) 23:05, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Similarity with The Good place

[edit]

The TV series The Good Place, especially the first season, appears to be based on this Twilight Zone episode. I wonder if this has ever been explicitly acknowledged. Regardless, it may be good to link between the two TV series through this plot point. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JonMinton (talkcontribs) 16:19, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just came here specifically to see if anyone else caught this. As always, Twilight Zone did it first!

Satan

[edit]

It is never implied that Pip is Satan. In fact, Pip himself implies he works for Satan and is a guide. At one point, Rocky asks Pip if he can meet the boss, and Pip replies that it won't be possible for a while.
