Van Meegeren[edit]
One of the characters, "dodgy" Dutch surgeon Van Meegeren (fiction), is an evocation of the Dutch art forger Han van Meegeren, but as with the forger, the surname has been transmuted to Van Meergeren, by at least one journalist.

Bewick[edit]
The woman surviving the crash with the swans has the surname Bewick. This evokes the British engraver and ornithologist Thomas Bewick, after whom 1 of the 7 extant species of swan is named: Bewick's Swan. 92.232.44.174 (talk) 09:54, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
