birth and death dates?[edit]

Can we add birth and death dates (years)? (It would add perspective to when this person lived). RJFJR 04:48, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of name[edit]

Translating the name of abd al aziz isn't needed. I deleted that part for a couple of reasons. First of all it only translated a part of the name (the prefix abd means "servant of") and second of all it made it sound as if the name was taken from the Quran but describing god as al aziz is an arabic convention not exclusive to islam. If you want you can make a seperate page on islamic naming conventions but in this case I feel like it is out of place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.88.60.160 (talk) 18:55, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency with other articles[edit]

The Section "Assassination and Al-Andalus after" contains this sentence: "This pattern continued until 758, when an Umayyad caliphate was established in Córdoba." This sentence has also a source given which I at this time cannot check. The proposed facts, however, deviate from that what is said in the articles about the Emirate and Caliphate of Cordoba (which by the way are in accordance with their german equivalents without them being obvious translations). There is established that 756-929 there was an Emirate of Cordoba, and from 929-1031 a Caliphate of Cordoba. Please note that the distinction between Emirate and Caliphate seems to be an important one. Also, the date if off two years. I will change the sentence to match the proposed facts from the other articles despite the source.
