Transliteration

[edit]

Not sure if it it's the local dialect, but is the transliteration of مسجد عابدين really "Abdeen"? Zayn al-Abidin is for example based on the same Arabic word, but transliterated trisyllabically. - HyperGaruda (talk) 13:30, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@HyperGaruda: The book spells it "'Abdeen Mosque". It's apparently named after its builders whose last names are "Abdeen". It's most likely the colloquial form of al-Abidin. I have not found much reference to the mosque other than this book (I can't even access that particular page anymore) so I don't know of other alternative transliterations. Therefore, I think it should remain as is. --Al Ameer (talk) 03:20, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
