Untitled[edit]

According to the Prescott Memorial an authorative source on all Prescotts prior to 1870. He is noted as the fourth child and third son of Dr. Abel Prescott and Abigail Brigham of Concord, Mass.

"Abel Prescott was born on April 12, 1749. On the 19th of April, 1775, he was fired on by British soldiers as he was returning from the neighboring town, whither he had been to apprise the people of the approach of the "regulars" (so called), and slightly wounded in his side, but succeeded in making his escape by secreting himself in the house of a Mrs. Heywood. He died from dysentery on the third of the following Sept. 1775, at 26 years, 5 months, and 9 days of age."

This entry conflicts directly with the information in the article as to birth, death, and marriage. According to the Memorial, no children were born.

The "mistaken" Abel Prescott listed is the son of Jonas Prescott and Rebecca Bulkley of Groton b. Dec 12 1759 also fought in the revolutionary war.
