Having upgraded the diagram, I have only included major stations based on their simply being still open, a junction or Port Elphinstone (as it is mentioned in the text). I feel that to avoid a long article since the line has many disused stations and they are all by definition historical, any more detailed approach should be left to historical articles on the line's original constituent parts. Any thoughts? Britmax (talk) 22:46, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the diagram for the time being, as this series of templates covers the current network (see my list at User:Pencefn/Scotrail).
Myself and others have been working my way around Scotland producing the Historical Route Diagrams for the various companies, precisely to give the detail you are mentioning, and leaving the First Scotrail route map templates showing only the current information. The key here is to mention the historical lines in the current route diagram and refer out to there. THere has been some real fun and games with the routes in Ayrshire and Renfrewshire, due to the rivalry between the Caley and G&SWR.
In this case Inverness and Nairn Railway has been completed. We have yet to fill the gap on the historical information between Nairn and Inverness, but have reached Forres from the south with Inverness and Perth Junction Railway, but have yet to do the route templates for Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway and Great North of Scotland Railway. I suggest the work you have done fits into those two railways, and forms the basis of the route map templates for these two articles, with all three being refered to in the Aberdeen to Inverness Line article. The worklist is at WP:HSR. The GNoSR lines are where most work is currently required. I would welcome your input to fill in these gaps. User:Dreamer84 and User:Pyrotec have been working on the G&SWR lines and User:Signalhead has been peer reviewing the work. Please help with this work in WP:TIS --Stewart (talk) 23:19, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the invitation. I've just changed the diagram to include the connecting lines at each end, Aberdeen Airport at Dyce and the position of the Keith and Dufftown Railway. The level of simplification on the diagram seems about right for a diagram of this size. Thoughts? Britmax (talk) 14:26, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also added Inverness bridge between lines and Raith's Farm freight depot (under construction) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Britmax (talkcontribs) 14:52, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diversion of LNER trains on this line

I can't find any evidence of this happening, so it must be a very rare event. I'll probably remove this info if a source isn't added.NemesisAT (talk) 17:07, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
