From the MacArthur Foundation's web site:

"The Society for Education, Action, and Research in Community Health (SEARCH), which tailors community-based health care to address the unique challenges of India's rural poor, was one of nine recipients of the MacArthur Award for Creative & Effective Institutions in 2006."

Maybe whoever questioned this was thinking of the "genius" grants.

So it is correct that SEARCH was given a MacArthur Foundation award. Maybe whoever questioned this was thinking of the "genius" grants.

As for TIME magazine, the couple were the subject of a (very favorable) 2005 article, http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1124299,00.html although not, evidently "man and woman of the year."
