Suggestions

[edit]

I thank User:जैन and User:Capankajsmilyo for their contributions to this page.

I suggest that information hold be added to that the page is of interest to non-Jains and Jains who are not primarily interested in memorizing the lists. For example:

  • Are there any Jain Acharyas today? Are there any famous ones? Who are they? Where can they be found?
  • Who were the famous Acharyas in antiquity? What did they do?
  • Did the Acharya institution undergo a renewal in late 19th/early 20th century in Digambar and Shwetambar traditions?

The traditional Jain text books are filled with lists, such as 22 Parishaha, 22 Abhakshya etc. They were devised for encoding knowledge in remote antiquity when the transmission of knowledge was still oral. Today descriptive information will be more easily understood.
