GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
'Although forced to retreat, Jervis' force was not unbeaten and on 14 February 1797 he inflicted a sharp defeat on the Spanish Navy at the Battle of Cape St Vincent' - 'Beaten' instead of 'unbeaten', I would imagine?
'Seeking to engage the strangers, Dixon bore up' - What does 'bore up' mean?
  • The sentance goes on "halting his movement to ensure he held the weather gage", which is an attempt to explain what boring up is. Can you think of a way to make this clearer?
I'm afraid not, but I think it can be figured out. Not a major issues, I think.
  1. 'One of the frigates, Santa Dorotea, had lost a topmast sometime' - Do we know why?
  • Almost certainly due to bad weather, but the sources do not give a reason and I don't want to second guess them.
  1. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  2. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  3. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  4. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  5. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  6. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Hmmm, I see a pattern emerging! Can't find anything major to query with this account - well written, good sources, NPOV, no image problems. Look forward to passing them. Skinny87 (talk) 16:16, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review! I've done one of the problems above and replied to two more pending replies. Regards--Jackyd101 (talk) 01:11, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Only one minor point, not enough to hold up promotion. Skinny87 (talk) 09:50, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
