Name

[edit]

This alternative claim of the island's name origin circulates as far as I can remember. I think that it should be mentioned here anyway, even though I don't think it is true. Much less verifiable things are posted on Wikipedia. Citation needed tag should also stay until someone provides the printed source of the claim. PajaBG 12:24, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a place to put rumours. If you have a reliable source, such as a linguist/etymologist who said that, then you can readd it. bogdan 21:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rumour is one thing and theory another one. But ok, here are some sites to mention this variant too: Official City of Belgrade site, Official Ada Ciganlija site, Offical Universiade 2009 site. I repeat that personally I don't find this theory correct and that it even can be a racial thing (better to be named after the Celts than after the Gyspies) but if theory is frequently mentioned (here, where the island is, regardless of how frequently it is or it is not mentioned in Romania or USA, for example) it should be put in the article too PajaBG 00:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting Ada Ciganlija and Sava Lake

[edit]

I propose to split Ada Ciganlija and Sava Lake. Lake is separate topic than island so it would be content split. Anybody against it?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 20:20, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
