Notability[edit]

The original of this article was speedied on 8 January 2008. I have notified the original nominator[1] and the deleter[2] of this recreation.

The first was deleted for "(CSD A7 (Band): Article about a band that does not assert significance)".[3]

Adelphia is not a band and the article is sourced to several reliable, third-party sources.

My intention is to create articles for each of the clubs of the Mummers Parade. I knew that Adelphia, as a rare newby in the parade, would be the most difficult to source and/or support against deletion, so I decided to go with them first (they also popped up first in my searches for sources).

My common sense rationale starts with a centuries old parade, an official part of one of the largest cities in the country for over one hundred years. I know that notability is not inherited, but the strict limitations on the admission of new clubs to this institution seems to form a notability criteria. While admission to the Parade is not a "prize" in most senses, I feel it is similar.

"A company, corporation, organization, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject."
See this articles sources: Philadelphia Daily News, About.com, Philadelphia Magazine, Associated Press, Courier-Post. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdsummermsw (talkcontribs) 17:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Local organization that is not notable. Equivalent of a garage band. Ought to be merged into Mummers Parade and this article deleted.--ColonelHenry (talk) 21:23, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A "garage band" covered in Philadelphia Daily News, About.com, Philadelphia Magazine, Associated Press and Courier-Post is a notable garage band. - SummerPhD (talk) 22:03, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. Those papers report also on topics of local interest as mundane as bake sales by local churches. Adelphia is the equivalent of a local bake sale. The Mummers Parade is just a larger bake sale. On its own, Adelphia is not notable. The Mummers Parade is. Material ought to be incorporated into Mummers Parade.--ColonelHenry (talk) 06:11, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So, Adelphia is a bake sale which is part of a larger bake sale, though the larger bake sale is a notable bake sale. (Previously, this non-band was equivalent to a garage band.) Something is apparently getting lost in your analogies. You'll need to be more direct. What part of WP:GNG do you feel this fails? - SummerPhD (talk) 12:06, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
