Vegan[edit]

Should his veganism be mentioned? He's one of several snooker players to follow this diet.--MartinUK (talk) 21:26, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

  • "Mumbai, Maharashtra" is odd for me, it's probably more useful to say Mumbai, India.
  • " player. Mehta participated" quick repeat of his surname, perhaps "He..."
  • "and again continuously" probably no need for again, and almost no need for continuously, one would just assume he'd be playing during that range.
  • "highest World ranking of " no need for capital W.
  • Two consecutive sentences with "reached" is repetitive.
  • "He won the gold medal at " no need to repeat medal, that's self-explanatory.
  • "where Mehta made his" -> "where he made his"
  • Where is nickname in infobox referenced? And this isn't in the prose anywhere.
    • Cited it in personal life. I'm never sure where to do this sort of thing. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 18:18, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "for the 2007/08 season," vs "2008/2009" in the infobox. And then the article says "He began his professional career by playing Challenge Tour from 2004...." so when did his pro career start??
  • Where are earnings in infobox referenced? Not in the prose.
  • Why is runner-up in italics in the infobox?
  • "on Main Tour " the
  • Why are you using slashes for the season year ranges when our articles all use en-dashes?
  • "being awarded the Asian nominated" after being awarded the Asian-nominated...
  • "new player on Tour" if it's not the formal title, don't capitalise.
  • " The second event of the season, the Shanghai Masters Mehta defeated " comma after Masters and missing something like "saw" or "At the second..."
  • " last-16" no need to hyphenate.
  • " the last-32 of a" ditto.
  • Robertson doesn't need pipe.
  • Nor McGill.
  • "due to finishing" after rather than "due to"
  • "The third ranking event of the season, the Riga Masters, Mehta" again, missing something like "at the third" or "saw Mehta.."
  • "Aditya Mehta is brand " no need to repeat his first name.
  • "of Snooker website" no need to capitalise snooker.
  • Burden doesn't need pipe.
  • "Performance and Rankings timeline" rankings.
  • "don't" - don't contract...
  • What's referencing all the timeline notes?
  • What is No. in the tables?
    • Supposed to be a count of how many finals they've been in. I'm not the biggest fan, but I can see the need for in bigger articles (such as Steve Davis.) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 18:18, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Tables could use col/row scopes for accessibility.
  • Check refs are fully populated with accesdate/publication date/both as appropriate.
  • Spaced hyphens in ref titles should be spaced en-dashes.

That's it, on hold for now. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 10:33, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lee Vilenski ping me when you're done? Cheers. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 07:58, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Rambling Man - that should be the lot. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:00, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed that the medals he won at the Martial Arts games for the IOC team aren't covered in the prose at all... The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 07:51, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - added a para on it The Rambling Man. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 11:36, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed a few dashes and punctuation issues there. Now, I noticed you're using flags without explanation, that old chestnut... The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 12:51, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Rambling Man, no problem, I simply removed the flags. I'm not sure why they are necessary when talking about major finals. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:37, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so timeline notes need references but that seems to be a wider issue. It's not super-fundamental, but please do continue to find out how the project wishes to cite claims about tournament names etc on all such articles. I'm very happy with the rest of the work done here so I'm promoting. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 19:24, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
