There is no coverage in the article of the general subject of adoption in Guatamala, which I'm sure in the vast majority of cases involves adoption of Guatamalan children by Guatamalans, but only covers the tiny sub-topic of adoption of Guatamalan children by Americans. The article either needs to be expanded to cover the general topic or renamed to to a title that actually reflects the content. Phil Bridger (talk) 09:43, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think with your assumption you are mistaken. Since most of the children available for adoption are of indigenous decent, there is rather little adoptions by Guatemalans. I have no numbers for it, but I know Guatemalans that went to Russia for adoption rather than adopting a child from their own country. Nevertheless, I was the original author of this article and I tagged it for deletion. This tag has been removed. I think this article is lagging a lot. I was hoping other people would also help working on the article. That happened only very limited, so I think it's time to delete it.Jerryscuba (talk) 10:55, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've comprehensively rewritten this to reflect the major problems with international adoption from Guatemala, and the fact that it's now effectively ceased. There's some comments on domestic adoption, though it seems to happen at a much lower rate. Shimgray | talk | 20:42, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
