Spelling of name[edit]

There are alternate spellings of this name found in many places.

When I first started doing research I found some sites that spelled the name:

Adrain Williams e.g. NCAA stats

My initial thinking was that this was an obvious typo for the name Adrian, but then I noticed it was consistently spelled that way at the USC website and record books, which didn't seem likely if it was a misspelling.

I wrote to the sports information director at USC, also noted the nonstandard spelling and wondered if there was an error. She promised to do some more research and responded to me in July 2021, confirming that the spelling in the schools files is consistently: Adrain.

This suggests that the article spelling should be changed and redirects created. However, it occurs to me that she may have gotten tired of having her name misspelled legally changed it to the more common spelling of the name. I haven't found evidence supporting that this happened or did not happen. I did create redirects. If someone can track down solid evidence, there might be a need to make a change to the article, but anyone searching for either spelling will be brought to the right location, so it's not a high priority issue.--S Philbrick (Talk) 19:44, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
