Name capitalization

[edit]

I added a clause to the lead section to denote that adrienne maree brown generally represents her name in lower cases. I haven't yet located a reference where she describes this practice (which is readily available for folks like bell hooks or k.d. lang), but I wanted to at least recognize that here. And thanks to the reviewers for looking over the article! --AnitaConchita (talk) 17:09, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AnitaConchita: It might still be a good idea to find a source for that. As for the article in general, have you consider nominating it for WP:DYK? Regards SoWhy 08:11, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@SoWhy:Thanks for the tips! I'll keep looking for sources, and will look into nominating the page for WP:DYK. I've never done it before...--AnitaConchita (talk) 15:43, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AnitaConchita: Just remember that articles for DYK have to be nominated within seven days after creation. Feel free to ping or message me if you need any help with it, I have a little bit of experience with DYK. Regards SoWhy 16:31, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@SoWhy: Eep! I'm approaching the deadline, and I didn't have as much time to work on this as I'd hoped. Any chance you can help with the WP:DYK nomination? I'd be ever so grateful! --AnitaConchita (talk) 20:33, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, AnitaConchita. I created the nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Adrienne Maree Brown and now we wait for someone to review it which can take multiple weeks, so don't be alarmed (my last nomination was three weeks ago and is still waiting for review). You can and should keep on working on the article if you can and possibly suggest different "hooks", i.e. those sentences on the Main Page designed to draw people in (although I think the one I proposed is pretty intriguing). If you go more questions, I'm always happy to help. Regards SoWhy 21:30, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, SoWhy! I've added some additional hooks. Hopefully, I did those correctly. I really appreciate your help! --AnitaConchita (talk) 16:31, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AnitaConchita: I didn't have time to check them now but remember that each fact in a hook must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable source. Regards SoWhy 16:40, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think that 2023justice wrote a wonderful summary of this chapter. Since two pages are summarized in 500 words, all the arguments are well portrayed here. The only thing that I would change is that I would focus more on the idea presented in her introduction on why the accountability scheme, as used today, is deeply against Transformative Justice. For example, she writes that " We call it transformative justice when we’re throwing knives and insults, exposing each other’s worst mistakes, reducing each other to moments of failure. We call it holding each other accountable. I’m tired of it. I see it everywhere I turn. When the response to mistakes, failures, and misunderstandings is emotional, psychological, economic, and physical punishment, we breed a culture of fear, secrecy, and isolation." She argues that the idea of accountability, as practiced today, is another form of punishment and against transformative justice fundamentals, and in my opinion, it needs to be more highlighted in this summary introduction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MCTransformative2023 (talkcontribs) 21:28, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

In the Music section, there are no formal references, only a mention of "the" Instagram post. Could anybody provide a link to the relevant post or an equivalent source? I would be thankful! -- Corneille pensive (talk) 13:05, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I have noticed that there was an Instagram link in a previous version, but later it was removed, presumably because it required login. I guess anyone who wants to talk about her music should find another source. Also, the text as it is now sounds promotional... -- Corneille pensive (talk) 19:53, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
