Eric Raymond quote

[edit]

On the back of the 2nd ed (and thus the associated electronic publicity burb) Eric Raymond is quoted as calling it "One of the essential classics of UNIX programming". I'm not 100% comfortable sourcing this only from the publisher's own works - can we find in what venue Raymond originally wrote this? -- Finlay McWalterTalk 16:21, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. In the TAOUP bibliography, he described it as Stevens's comprehensive guide to the Unix API. A feast for the experienced programmer or the bright novice, and a worthy companion to Unix Network Programming, and in the preface, he writes [APUE] is classic among explorations of the Unix API, which comes close. --Stephan Schulz (talk) 21:50, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
