I was just wondering why there are so many Tupolevs on the related development list. OK, I know that they can all trace linage back to the B-29, but, for example, the link between the Tu-85 and the Guppy is:

  1. Super Guppy
  2. Based on Stratocruiser/C-97
  3. Based on B-50
  4. Based on B-29
  5. Russian copy Tu-4
  6. Developed to Tu-85

It seems these need a rethink. Could I have some opinions. --GW_Simulations 18:38, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Specifications

[edit]

I have both the specifications for the Super Guppy (original) and the Super Guppy Turbine. However, I have more detailed specs for the Super Guppy Turbine, so I will be posting those. Should I be posting the specifications for the original Super Guppy instead?

Errors

[edit]

Something is obviously wrong in the conversion between kg and pounds. A kg is more than a pound, but the plane is rated at 54500lb, and this supposedly equals 120000kg? Someone screwed up the calculation?

  1. 1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=1kg+%3D+%3F+lbs&btnG=Google+Search) 147.145.40.43 18:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of the name

[edit]

Does anyone know of the origin of the name "Guppy" ? why did they call it "Guppy"? what's story behind it ? --Guyver (talk) 11:18, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because it looked like a Guppy. MilborneOne (talk) 13:00, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I thought of that before but I just couldn't liken it to the guppy fish :(. So I decided to ask about it here. --Guyver (talk) 08:26, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
