New Order?

[edit]

I rather doubt that it could be sourced, but this DYK is the first time I have heard of the novel and I am suddenly wondering if this was the source of the song title for New Order's Age of Consent (song). Has this been suggested before? CAVincent (talk) 00:21, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't come across any mention of that song in sources about the novel. Maybe in sources about the song there is something about inspiration. 𝕱𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖎𝖆 (talk) 10:32, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There was a title song to the movie Age of Consent (film) but it's a different song, and the lyrics have little connection to the movie or to the novel, but were rather bluntly suggestive... The chorus starts out Age of consent, the right to say yes, the right to say no and goes downhill from there. The novel is superb (and the text is available online), the movie I have not seen but that title song written for the movie was junk IMO, I even doubt that the songwriter had read either the screenplay or the novel.
