Crops

Resolved

Is it possible that the link to Lotus (genus) is intended to mean Nelumbo nucifera? If not, then perhaps calling it "trefoil" might avoid confusion in the future.

Do we have any further information on the identity of "wampei"? If not the Latin then perhaps the Chinese name?

It might be nice to be more specific about the "Chinese gourds", since we have articles about winter melon, bitter melon, luffa, and calabash.

Thank you — Pekinensis 02:08, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

The name "ginger lily" can be applied to at least two different plants - Hedychium and Alpinia (including Alpinia zerumbet). Which one is meant here? — Pekinensis 13:22, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

Chinese spinach is also ambiguous. — Pekinensis 16:34, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

wampee (黃皮) is Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels; Chinese spinach (莧菜) is three-colored amaranth (Amaranthus tricolor). --K.C. Tang 20:14, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
Great. I've changed it to link to amaranth. We don't yet have an article for Clausena, or Clausena lansium, but someday we will. Thank you — Pekinensis 22:59, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

Proposing Merge

I am proposing Fisheries in Hong Kong page be merged into Agriculture in Hong Kong. Both are combined to less than 1% of the economy. It makes more sense to group them together. Benjwong 01:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

But they're different topics. Fisheries have nothing to do with agriculture and agriculture is not about fish. I don't think we should merge them. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 03:57, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
I am saying we can rename the page to "Agriculture and Fisheries in Hong Kong". Do you know how much more can be contributed to Fisheries alone? Unless someone really have significant info on fishing techniques maybe? I feel like it could be one big article instead of 2 separate ones. Benjwong 06:56, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh ok. I have no problem with that if the two articles have basically reached critical mass and can't be expanded much more. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 15:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:FishScheme.jpg

Image:FishScheme.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Aquaculture is considered a type of agriculture. Moreover, the article does concern fishing, which wouldn't be included in the scope of aquaculture. I suggest renaming to agriculture and fisheries in Hong Kong. Kayau (talk · contribs) 09:00, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Consumption

Resolved

Adding up the figures in the table in the section on consumption, the food consumption by Hong Kong's population in the year 2007 amounted to 3,800 tonnes of fruit, vegetables, poultry, eggs and fish. This suggests a serious famine, averaging out to about 1.5 grams of food per day per citizen. --Epipelagic (talk) 09:39, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Looking at the source site, it's per day. Dengero (talk) 12:42, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
