Article name[edit]

An AP news article spells the subject's name as "Ahlu-sunah Wal-jamea". (At least, I believe it refers to the same group.) Is this or the current "Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a" more suitable as the name of this article? -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:47, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And this article uses the spelling "Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama". -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Lemma (title of the article) "Ahlu Sunna wal Jama'a" (from arabic: "Ahlu s-Sunnah wa l-Jama'a") is ok, thanks. 79.251.75.189 (talk) 18:38, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

اهل السنة و الجماعة "The people of the eternal law and the community". Sunna means "prophetic tradition", generally spoken; the Sunna is the way the Prophet acted during his time on earth - written down in the Hadith and should be imitaded correctly by each Muslim (according to orthodox Islam). Jamaa = assembly, association, community. 79.251.75.189 (talk) 16:21, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Roman English spelling[edit]

Shouldn't Wikipedia use the most common spelling of this group's name? Or, if not the most common in EN, the Roman spelling the group itself identifies with? I am finding all of the following. The numbers in parentheses are the number of hits on Google when I searched today (6/5/2014).

Ahlu Sunna Wal-jamea (139,000) Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a (50,500) Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama (45,100) Ahlusunna Waljamaaca (46,400)

and there are others.

Khat[edit]

Are they opposed to khat or opposed to laws banning khat? Nurg (talk) 23:25, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
