Removed "sky diving"[edit]

removed "sky diving" because it currently redirects to Parachuting, although there is disscussion on that page of separating the two and generally revising all of the skydiving/parachuting related content.

Merger of windsports and air sports[edit]

I have deleted a proposal for a merger between windsports and Air sports. In air sports the participants actually leave the ground, except model aircraft contests. (I have my doubts about model aircraft being included but the FAI disagrees.) Some of the windsport activities may use the wind but this does make them an aerial sport. Indeed most of the air sports do not rely on the wind: eg the three forms of gliding mainly use thermals, and parachutists would prefer the wind never blew at all. I have deleted the suggestion to save other people also wasting their time. JMcC 10:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Skydiving[edit]

I would think that if Wingsuit flying is an air sport then skydiving should be included also, but it seems like there might be a more narrow definition of an air sport than I am aware of so I figured I should check here first. Robogymnast 17:46, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article title[edit]

Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions, article titles should be singular, so this article should be moved to Air sport. This applies equally to most other articles ending in "sports" (though not "List of ..."). Can an admin sort this out, please? Avengah (talk) 07:55, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No. The rule on Naming conventions doesn't over-ride the rule on dialect. In American English, “sport” is not normally used in quite the same way as is “sports”. —SlamDiego←T 09:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

three columns[edit]

While i like the recent division into three, three columns does not look good on in some key layouts —¿philoserf? (talk) 01:31, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Philoserf:The 3-column format fills in white space better compared to the 1-column list. Should we try something like a table format? There could be additional table columns for full commission names, commission abbreviations, and references, along with sorting parameters. CYAce01 (talk) 18:53, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
i like the three column’s use of space. i have, however, noticed that in many layouts it overflows or with the images get pushed around. unfortunately I am not a layout guru. —¿philoserf? (talk) 20:17, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Competitions section[edit]

Should I add an section called competitions. It would have all the air sport races. SVcode(Talk) 18:37, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Remove tag[edit]

Should I remove the more references tag? I think most of the things have been cited. SVcode(Talk) 20:50, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Motorsport[edit]

Hello, I wonder if you still consider and call your sport motorsport, it is not mentioned or wikilinked in this article. Rally Wonk (talk) 19:18, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
