ai?[edit]

sumimasen is often corrupted to suimasen in songs, comics, etc., but sumasen is a bit of a stretch. that said, the real problem here is "ai" -- what the heck does that mean?

there is no "ai" in the expression for i'm sorry, formal or otherwise!

ai usually means love, altho there are a couple of other possible meanings. NONE of which fit here!
