Surnames

[edit]

The article says that her surnames don’t follow the typical Spanish format, so is there way to change the hatnote? Blaylockjam10 (talk) 23:37, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced it with a generic hatnote for the time being. Might need a bit of rewording but at least it's factually correct now.  – Pulsaris talk 18:09, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed your note (replaced it with what was there before a user misguidedly changed it to the default template in August) for two reasons: first, it's Catalan, not Spanish. Second, your note unnecessarily included "first or maternal" and "second or paternal", which to an uninformed reader may lead them to believe that is the typical order, something we don't want to convey. Hi Kingsif, I improved on the hatnote description. I did not use Catalan name, following the examples of articles that describe other Catalan-speaking Spanish individuals. Gandalfett (talk) 22:08, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That seems... ludicrous. And will be reverted as soon as I see it. I already explained that the surname Bonmatí is itself a Catalan word, so why say it's Spanish. But, moreover, we have a template for Catalan surnames - if you personally don't want to use that because you think Catalan is a subset of Spanish (which will get you laughed off this website quickly), that's cool, but it exists so there's no reason to not use it, and no precedent for it to be avoided. Ignore my previous message, and apologies for the misunderstanding caused. Gandalfett (talk) 10:15, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
