Hirata was born in Korea, so shouldn't he be listed as a "Korean" actor? I also left a note on the talkpage of the editor making the change asking this same question. S.DeanJameson 04:58, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As I noted on your talk page, being born in Korea doesn't make him Korean, and at the time of his birth, Korea was part of the Japanese Empire. The bio on IMDb states that he had a Japanese birth name, while the Japanese Wiki article refers to him as ethnically Japanese. He appears to have had no connection to Korea other than as the place of his birth. Having said that, it might be more correct to say he was "Korean-born Japanese". I responded at your talkpage as well. Your Bruce Willis analogy (on my talk) makes perfect sense. Thanks for clearing things up. S.DeanJameson 14:02, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
