Note on name/transliteration[edit]

Just a note about the name here and for his sons (Al-Hasan ibn al-Qasim Jannun and Abu'l-Aysh ibn al-Qasim Jannun). Encyclopedia of Islam 2 (Eustach 1971, [1]) and New Islamic Dynasties (Bosworth 1996/2012, [2]) both render the last part of the name as "Gannūn" rather than Jannun, while the Encyclopedia of Islam 3 (Benchekroun 2018,) renders it as "Jannūn", like the current article title. At the same time, the Arabic rendition provided at the articles about his sons and in the Arabic Wikipedia articles includes a kaf (كنون), which would not be transliterated as "j". Of course, these are not necessarily sourced and might be a WP:OR transcription into Arabic from the former English transliteration used here. If anyone knows a reliable source for the Arabic name used in historical sources, that might be useful for ensuring consistency and/or maybe noting this variation in a footnote.
