(The?) Zubarah Fort

[edit]

Hello! The definite article is used several times in the article. It seems to me that we shoud delete "the" before the fortress name. Am I right? BigSugarDaddy 17:00, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@BigSugarDaddy: I think you are right. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 17:24, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
All the sources (as far as I can recover them) use "Al Zubara Fort" in English-language texts. We should likely adopt that usage unless there's a very good reason to deviate from the soruces. Huon (talk) 21:09, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Emir of Wikipedia and Huon, thank you very much for the explanations! I have applied the changes. BigSugarDaddy 08:06, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hello, Huon! I want to ask help again. Now we have the link to "https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Al_Zubara_Fort". Yet it would be better, if the link follow immediately to the page with photographs, but now these photographs still here: "https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Zubarah_Fort", and it is the old name of the category. BigSugarDaddy 10:43, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That is a Commons issue. Ask an admin on that to help. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 11:14, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Emir of Wikipedia, okay. BigSugarDaddy 11:35, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Admin, please, help me to move the media related to Al Zubara Fort exactly to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Al_Zubara_Fort. The subcategory with the name of Zubarah Fort should be removed. BigSugarDaddy 11:35, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As User:Emir of Wikipedia pointed out, this is a Commons issue - Wikipedia admins can't help you. You need to go to Commons and ask for help there. Yunshui  15:57, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so, I have asked for help here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category_talk:Al_Zubara_Fort BigSugarDaddy 07:47, 23 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism is detected

[edit]

Please, look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Al_Zubara_Fort&type=revision&diff=813366303&oldid=811935083

The editor under IP 37.210.58.128 has changed "20th century." to just "20 centry".

Please, take an action against this. BigSugarDaddy 08:17, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. You realise you could just have edited the page to correct the error, right? Yunshui  09:00, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yunshui, thank you! Yes, I realize it, but I have never edited vandalism before. So, I wanted to know how the experienced users do it. I didn't know what to use better: a revert or an editing. BigSugarDaddy 09:25, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Given that there were several subsequent edits (including one that restored the source the IP removed), the rollback or undo functions wouldn't have worked. All that you needed to do was open the page, find the bit where it said "20 centry" and manually change it to "20th century" (which is exactly what I did). Yunshui  09:58, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yunshui, yes, exactly, I worried about the subsequent edits also. And now I know what to do in the future! Thank you very much! BigSugarDaddy 16:44, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Structure section is poorly written

[edit]

It reads like it was translated by a computer with random commas inserted, and has information that doesn't make sense eg "Lofty, compact walls, substantial and profuse in broadness, swathe this eminent fort which are one meter in length and bulk". If the walls are one metre in length it can't be a very big building. "The roof endows shade and coolness for the ones inside the fort." Well that's generally what a roof does. "The fort has external staircases which were used to climb up to the fort's floors and roof." Just in case you didn't know what stairs are used for. This section should be rewritten by someone who speaks English and can describe the Fort's structure with more useful information.80.76.165.35 (talk) 05:12, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
