Fact v. Fiction[edit]

I had some trouble sorting out facts from fictionalized accounts of the family and its history for instance couple sources say he trained at the University of Chicago but another source says he received his medical training at Rust College (which seem more plausible in that era). How, when, and why the family revealed the truth to its children and also the surrounding community varies. I've seen accounts that rumors followed the military's offer being rescinded, while another account says Johnston couldn't get an explanation on why the offer was rescinded for two years. Other versions have it related to an experience of the son (and I think this is the way it's depicted in the film?). Anyway, I tried to usse my bet judgment but perhaps a better researcher can follow up amd clarify so we sort the facts from fiction. FloridaArmy (talk) 14:09, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
