Untitled[edit]

albert murphy was only sent off twice in his career in scotland and on both occasions was against RANGERS. murphy was a personal friend of my father and stayed with my aunt in COATBRIDGE the full duration of his time with clyde. He was a controversial player in scotland only because before every game he ever played he would bless himself at the start and finish of the game . As you can imagine at this time 50/60s this was met by a howl of derision by the Rangers supporters .As for the two version of his sending off by the DAILY RECORD both reports were so inaccurate and were rediculed by both the players and the people who knew him I only write this as i take exception to him being portrayed as a fiery tempered player . the man was a true gentleman of first class character and told my dad amongst other things " i am only asking GOD to look after the twenty two players on the field "(there were no subtitute in those days) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.171.10.180 (talk) 22:14, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
