  • I am fairly certain Al. is an abbreviation for al doilea, meaning "junior" or "second" in Romanian. I hope someone can confirm/deny this. If that's correct, I propose the page be moved to "Alexander John Cuza, Jr." or "Alexander John Cuza II". Evangelista (talk) 20:44, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • It is actually the conventional Romanian rendition of his patronymic "Alexandru" (as in "Alexandru Ioan Cuza"). It was a widespread Romanian custom to include the father's initial in the full name, even when this was highly redundant. In this case, it appears to be the essential way of distinguishing between Cuza Sr and Cuza Jr - with variants such as "Alexandru Al. Cuza", "Alexandru Al. I. Cuza", "Alexandru A.
