Lost in translation
[edit]Can somebody translate & include "Bubi"? Thanx. Trekphiler (talk) 12:23, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- "Bubi", "Bub" or "Bübchen" is the hypocoristic form of "young boy" in the German language. MisterBee1966 (talk) 15:18, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks (again). Trekphiler (talk) 15:47, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Does not meet WP:SOLDIER & sig RS coverage not found link, just passing mentions. Hence the redirect to a related list. K.e.coffman (talk) 04:14, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- ummm, wasn't he the first ace? doesn't that make him significant? I'm rolling this back until we can have a discussion of this. auntieruth (talk) 15:02, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- I see several google book hits that discuss Schreiber in depth due to him being the 1st jet fighter pilot to score an aerial victory.Icewhiz (talk) 15:15, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Most I would classify as passing mentions; the only one that really goes enough in depth that I can find is this book, which clearly mentions two different engagements and gives him a separate paragraph. Alcherin (talk) 17:20, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Well, by itself being the first to shoot down another plane in a jet plane doesn't establish notability, but with the use of WP:NPOSSIBLE then we can presume notability. Not all RSs are listed in Google searches; Academic databases may have more information on him. Alcherin (talk) 17:12, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Couldn't find anything on those I have access to, but records are more likely to exist in German-language sources. Alcherin (talk) 02:11, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- And also the currently cited German Jet Aces of World War 2 should amount to significant coverage since it describes five claims, the problem with the first claim, and the how and why of his death. Alcherin (talk) 14:35, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- If an ace and the first jet ace this is suffient? Regards, Cinderella157 (talk) 23:04, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- I'd consider being the first jet ace to be sufficient to establish notability on WP even if in-depth coverage is lacking (thus far). Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 22:38, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- First jet ace would do it for me, too, even absent a dedicated bio. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 08:40, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- I tend to agree with the last two posts, namely, first jet ace sufficient to establish notability. Sue2016 (talk) 23:19, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
