Unconstructive point-scoring[edit]

I have re-written and referenced the lead paragraph. The mini edit war and point-scoring in the lead paragraph is detrimental to this article and to Wikipedia. The listing of virtually every great or 'legendary' tenor in the 20th century is highly inappropriate in the lead paragraph. Similarly, unreferenced descriptive terms like 'legendary' invite that sort of thing, and are also inappropriate. It is debatable whether "Pourquoi me réveiller?" could be classified as his signature song (in any case the term 'aria' is more appropriate). If a verifiable reference supporting this can be provided, then it can be added. But until then, it is sufficient to say that he was a distinguished interpreter of the aria, which can be referenced. As to the "extreme popularity" of the aria. That is also highly debatable, although it's is a famous aria.

This article needs a lot of work and expansion. The article also needs a "Selected recordings" section. There is plenty of worthwhile work to be done here, and I have provided further reliable references which will allow future editors (including me) to so. Please do not engage in further lazy and unconstructive point-scoring, and instead put in the work to make this a more complete and accurately referenced article. If you are not prepared to do that, then find another article to work on. Thanks, Voceditenore (talk) 08:56, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
