Notability[edit]

Abdelaziz certainly does not pass WP:MMABIO notability criteria of a mixed martial artist. There are also more tenured and known MMA managers in the business (ie. Kawas) which do not have an article either and I suppose don't need one. Also, it has not been written by WP:NPOV rules, as all negative information have been excluded albeit they were plentifully available from one of the sources. None of the sources refer the age or birth date but it has been categorized with "Category:1977" births which could indicate Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or self-promotion. Hi, Ticelon, I started the article. I did it when I kept running across his name while I was editing Henry Cejudo, and I was surprised that there was not already an article about Abdelaziz, given the amount of reliable sources that discuss him. I can assure you that there is no conflict of interest - my interest is in MMA in general, and I didn't even know who Abdelaziz was before the leadup to Henry Cejudo's last fight. The 1977 birth? That category was added by this anon IP, and I agree, without a source, that should probably be removed.
As for Malki Kawa, I'm not sure he's more well-documented than Abdelaziz. I just Googled "Malki Kawa" and ironically, the first result in Google News is an article about Abdelaziz! But sure, start an article about Malki Kawa if you feel he is well-known. There might be enough sources out there to build an article around him.
Now for the last, and probably most important thing - the "negative information". I actually came to this talk page to ask if anyone had an opinion on including it or not. There's fairly good sourcing - I assume you're talking about the Enemies Within book? And that stuff has been reported in decent sources, in connection with that book, mostly after Conor McGregor brought it up at the UFC 229 presser. The stuff about his son I don't think will pass muster under BLP, as the best thing I could find was a tweet. But even the FBI/NYPD stuff is kind of nebulous. I'm of the opinion that there should be a community discussion about whether to include it or not. Perhaps an RfC? What do you think? JimKaatFan (talk) 16:28, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response and clarifications. Of course, it is up to the community to decide whether or not Abdelaziz is notable enough for an article, but WP:N denotes that we must separate fame and notability. And to clarify my own opinion, I don't think either of the Kawas are notable enough.
What comes to the negative things, the FBI informant section and ties to suspicious organizations/individuals have been quite comprehensively documented by the Clarion Project, a couple of books and some other work. Some bits and pieces that come quickly to my mind: several physical altercations/assaults, dealing in a double role in WSOF, "different" contracts with the athletes. Also there is the RusFighter case regarding Minakov. All kinds of incidents have been throughoutly reported when it comes to the mixed martial artist articles, and this should not be an exception if the article is to stay. Yeah I'm all for expanding it. I don't even know about half the stuff you mentioned! Will Google to learn more. If you would help me expand it, I would appreciate it; you obviously have a larger base of knowledge about this guy than I do. JimKaatFan (talk) 18:42, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
