Isn't this page the same as Ali Zayn al Abidin? Why the separate pages? Can't we redirect one to the other? The usual way I have heard him referred to is Imam Zayn al Abidin, btw. But I am just the son of a Sayyid and not really a Shia.iFaqeer | Talk to me! 23:19, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)

is it really necessary to provide every alternative spelling of the name. Surely it's sufficient to redirect the relevant pages? Leo Africanus 17:10, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Maybe not every alternative spellings, but surely the more common ones. So people less familiar with subject will know that when they read about Husayn or about Hussain, for example, they are learning about the same person, and not separate ones. I think Wikipedia has recommendations about the maximum number of alternatives to list.
The way I look at things, Wikipedia is a chance to provide a more complete picture of things than that usually provided by encyclopedias where topics are written by one or a small number of people who often have a common cultural background—and experience.iFaqeer | Talk to me! 18:26, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)
Once again, I can't argue with that. Makes sense to me. Leo Africanus 19:53, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Okay, I have done an edit the way I would want it. What say?iFaqeer | Talk to me! 22:03, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

Excellent. No qualms at all. Leo Africanus 22:58, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Disambig?

[edit]

Is a disambiguation needed with existing articles Ali bin Hussein and Ali bin Hussein of Hejaz. I've just got in a terrible mess between them and their redirects, trying to follow the Hashemite lineage. No idea how to go about it, though. Hajor 03:09, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How about adding the title "Imam" to disambiguate?
