Summa Cum Laude
[edit]Alissa Czisny graduated summa cum laude (straight A's) from Bowling Green State University. This is the highest academic honor (higher than magna cum laude) and I think should be included in the article. She majored in International Studies and studied French and Russian, as I recall. There are other items, from her personal website (she likes strawberries and blueberries, her favorite color is purple, she studies ballet, likes bicycling and reading and rock wall climbing, etc.) but I don't know how relevant these might be to a wikipedia article. She is somewhat of an enigma, but many consider her to be the best ice skater in the world, it's just that she's inconsistent. I've been told that ice skaters have to be careful of their opinions, since they represent their skating club, but it would be great if someone could do some research (old college papers perhaps?) and find out what she thinks about things. She's beautiful, National Champion and highly intelligent--which means there's a lot more going on than we are aware of. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.104.54.216 (talk) 10:49, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Early Career At Age 1 1/2
[edit]Mention of the fact that Alissa Czisny began skating at age 1 1/2 is in the official website of the Olympic Team USA, seventh paragraph down, under www.teamusa.org/news/2009/05/22/going...alissa czisny. Her mom took up ice skating at that time and Alissa and her sister Amber (who also ice skates) didn't want to stay at home while their mom went skating. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.122.182.221 (talk) 04:10, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Stars On Ice
[edit]Alissa Czisny has announced she will be performing with the "Stars On Ice" touring company for the 2010 season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.192.101.96 (talk) 02:19, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
HOME SCHOOLED
[edit]I've heard that Alissa was home schooled by her mother. Can anyone confirm this? I've also read that home schooled kids do better academically, which may explain Alissa's Summa Cum Laude. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.154.158.134 (talk) 21:30, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
New Coach Yuka Sato
[edit]I've just heard today (May 7) that Alissa Czisny's new coach will be Yuka Sato, the former World Champion and Japanese National Champion and Olympic contender. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.104.55.200 (talk) 05:27, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
broken thumb
[edit]Remember when Alissa broke her thumb and had to wear a cast in competition? Maybe it threw her off balance a bit and hindered her performance that year. Anyway, anybody know how she broke it? Also, I've never seen any other skater that I recall wear a cast in competition, it might be a worthwhile historical note; Alissa is a remarkable young woman.67.117.24.96 (talk) 10:45, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Sgt. Grand Prix Assignments for 2010
[edit]Alissa has been assigned to Skate Canada and the Paris Eric Bompard competitions for the 2010 Grand Prix season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.104.54.170 (talk) 23:43, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
"Creme de la Creme" Fashion Show
[edit]Alissa Czisny will be appearing with Johnny Weir at the "Creme de la Creme" fashion show on ice at Macomb's Suburban Ice Arena in Macomb, Michigan on June 27 and 28 (this event was rescheduled to a later date). Tickets will be $75 for general admission and $900 to $5,000 for VIP. Don't know what the $5,000 ticket entails. Oh, and Alissa's birthday (and Amber's) is two days before, on the 25th, so Happy Birthday! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.122.183.249 (talk) 22:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
A Sun Valley Serenade
[edit]Alissa will be appearing in the 2010 Sun Valley Ice Show as a guest star, don't know the exact date, I've heard possibly July 3 or Aug. 7. Silver Bayonet (talk) 18:14, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Silver Bayonet
Alissa Now Ranked 9th in the World
[edit]I just read on icenetwork.com that Alissa Czisny is now ranked 9th in the world, up from 16th, so that should be updated in the article. Alissa has been referred to as the "Lillie Langtry" of figure skating. 67.121.225.137 (talk) 23:22, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Midwestern Sectionals
[edit]Alissa just scored 56.98 in her short program at Ann Arbor Nov. ll. She's in first. Her score is up a point from her sp score at Skate Canada (55.95) where she won Gold. Judges seem to be approaching post-Olympic skating cautiously, avoiding the inflated scores of the Olympic season. It's interesting to note that when Yu Na Kim is out of the circuit, Alissa Czisny floats to the foremost in ladies figure skating. 63.198.18.100 (talk) 04:06, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- Alissa just won Sectionals! That's two competitions, two Gold medals. Great new picture of her winning Skate Canada by the way. 63.198.18.100 (talk) 19:38, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Backwards Logo for 2011 US Nationals
[edit]The Wright Bros. biplane in the logo for the 2011 AT&T US National Figure Skating in Greensboro is flying BACKWARDS! (It's a pusher plane, with the props in back and the horizontal elevator in front.) Since Alissa won Gold here, this should make an interesting item in the Trivia section. Who wants to start the Trivia section? Except there's nothing trivial about Alissa. 70.130.68.178 (talk) 06:56, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Czisny Awarded 9's
[edit]Alissa Czisny received two 9's in her Program Component Score (PCS) for her Freeskate from two of the judges in the judges' scoring detail (2011 US Nats). I can't recall anybody ever getting 9's before. 70.130.68.178 (talk) 18:18, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Alissa Czisny in SUPERBOWL ad
[edit]Alissa was in a two minute Superbowl ad reputed to have cost $9 million. She is seen skating outdoors, promoting motor city for Chrysler. It's a fine avant-garde commercial, exceptionally well done. 71.139.247.160 (talk) 01:14, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Grand Prix 2011-2012 season
[edit]Alissa has been assigned to Skate America in Ontario, Calif. Oct 21-23; and to Trophee Eric Bompard in Paris, France Nov. 18-20. 66.122.185.186 (talk) 21:20, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
newly designed website
[edit]On Sept. 6, 2011, Alissa Czisny's newly designed website appeared. 70.135.57.28 (talk) 21:21, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Injury
[edit]The injury Alissa got during practice on Thursay Dec. 8 for the GP Final was to her left calf and ankle, and her falls on jumps in competition were on her left foot. She's resting for a week before training for Nats. Best wishes. 69.104.54.79 (talk) 08:51, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
2012 Worlds close call--almost down to one placement
[edit]Alissa Czisny's placement of 22 combined with Ashley Wagner's place of 4 at Worlds made 26, just two away from 28, the figure needed to retain two places at Worlds. 108.237.241.88 (talk) 13:02, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Recovery After Injury
[edit]Alissa started rehabilitation for her torn labrum injury the day after surgery and after a month was able to walk without crutches, according to the July 12, 2012 Golden Skate article. While recovering she has been reading a lot. 2602:306:CEDF:1580:8972:D568:1BBD:A97A (talk) 19:55, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

FAN'S OPINION (Let's chat)
[edit]Alissa is honestly the most breath taking skater. She is extremely underrated. The true quality of her skating really separated her from the rest and made her stand out positively. If she competed during 6.0 judging, she would have been outshined by nobody because the quality of her skating is on an entirely different level. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cassi Conley (talk • contribs) 02:01, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
