Apparent contradiction in the article.[edit]

The top says "The movie is a direct sequel to the last installment of the game series, but contains plot elements that directly contradict it, thus whether it's considered canonical is debatable" while the Trivia section says "The film is credited as being "based upon the video game Alone In the Dark", though it has nothing in common with the original 1992 Infogrames title save the name of Christian Slater's character." Which one is correct? JoshuaZ 03:17, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Apparently, the former is wishful thinking on the part of mr. Uwe Boll. - SkarmoryThePG 11:20, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Shouldn't you fix the article then?--ZayZayEM 15:35, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What are the 'plot elements' that contradict the last game?

Sorry, its too much to list here. Play the game and you will find out. SSPecter talk # 12 november 2006

Nightwish[edit]

Yes, Nightwish's I Wish I Had An Angel was used to market the film and they even made a video using fooatge from the film (though I've only seen it once). However, I'm not convinced it was composed specifically for the movie, more likely Nuclear Blast attached it as apart of a deal with Boll (Hannu M, not signed)

Plot cutdown[edit]

the plot section needs to be cut down. It should not be a scene by scene ("cut to...") retelling of the plot.

It also shouldn't be ad copy straight from the film's producers. Can someone who's watched the movie give us something a little more honest and Wikipedia-appropriate? 159.53.46.141 22:18, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The plot section was completeley removed instead of edited Topio (talk) 07:18, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the plot section needs to be rewritten again, if here's no plot to read ¿what's the point of the page at all?

Also[edit]

This is ridiculously difficult to read. It sounds like Uwe Boll wrote this article himself. Someone needs to just completely rewrite this so it's at least remotely readable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.136.196.67 (talk) 22:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Alone1.jpg[edit]

Image:Alone1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 17:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Testament[edit]

Does the title deliberately refer to the Testament song? If so, shouldn't it be in the article? If not, shouldn't it be there, too? And if noone knows, that might be in the article as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.123.15.99 (talk) 16:46, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it does. It doesn't say anywhere in the article for the original video game where the title stems from, but it's a common enough phrase to be just coincidence. Martin (talk) 13:21, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack information too excessive and other concerns[edit]

I Just edited the main article. Apart from the small edits in language and readability, I'd like to justify the major changes:

As per Wikipedia's guidelines i removed the Trivia-part and incorporated relevant information in other parts of the article. Moved the opening weekend gross to the preamble, removed the comment on Nuclear Blasts PR costs since it's totally irrelevant and moved the information about the removal of Tara Reid's scenes to the Director's cut version. This last information needs a source though.

I also changed the film box template as per Wikipedias guidelines on using this template. The budget cost figure seemed to be wrong as well (IMDb states $20 million).

I moved the information about songs from the preamble to the Soundtrack portion. I understand that the music might be the most interesting part of this film, but it is nevertheless an article about the film and not it's music. I also edited the Soundtrack portion of the article to be less intrusive to the article as a whole.Martin (talk) 13:21, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A little different than other movie pages[edit]

On this page, there is no brief explanation of the plot at the top of the page, like on other movie pages..... should something be done about this? or am I just an idiot, who should just read the whole article, or am I completely wrong, and there is a summary at the top, and I just stupidly missed it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.118.221.18 (talk) 04:36, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plot?[edit]

A plot section would be nice, since something must have actually taken place in the movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.19.133 (talk) 01:36, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the comment above this one, there MUST BE a plot to know what happened in the movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.28.189.227 (talk) 05:27, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mistakes[edit]

Is it appropriate to list 'mistakes' in a films page? I'm not saying those mistakes aren't accurate, but I know for a fact Terminator 2 had over 100 mistakes. I don't see that mentioned on that films page. Freikorp (talk) 18:35, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed due to no objections. Freikorp (talk) 23:14, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agathodaimon[edit]

The German band Agathodaimon claims to have written a song called "Alone in the Dark" for this movie's soundtrack (taken from the band's biography: "An exclusive song was written later on for the movie soundtrack of "Alone In The Dark", bearing the same title- sadly only released on the USA- and Japan-edition so far.") and has released two songs called "Alone in the Dark" on their latest album, one of those described as "Soundtrack Version" (the other being "Alone In The Dark (Death Angel's Shadow)" and with harsh and clean male vocals instead clean female vox). I only know the song, not the movie, so I'm curious: what actually is the connection between the band and the movie? Does anybody know? Promonex (talk) 01:06, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack Question[edit]

I was looking at my copy of the Soundtrack I have and noticed it has a different track listing, meaning the order, the songs by the bands, and even some of the bands are different or missing. I wanted to include that if possible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.122.237.11 (talk) 19:48, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Last line of first paragraph appears to be sarcasm[edit]
