Sourcing depth[edit]

@Das osmnezz with a recent clear consensus to delete, I think you're going to need better depth of sourcing to keep this from going back to AfD. If you want the ones from the prior version to add to this, I'm happy to provide. Star Mississippi 01:20, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Star Mississippi:, Many of the sources in the article now also were not in the previous one. Sure, can you provide me the ones from the prior version to add to this? Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 02:34, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can pull the original refs from the wayback machine-- IdiotSavant (talk) 03:16, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Star Mississippi, the new independent refs do not constitute GNG coverage.
[1]: 5 sentences about Tuvalu and the itinerary of the pair (Petoa and Liva) with no encyclopedic coverage directly of Petoa, followed by primary, non-encyclopedic news coverage of the pair (again, nothing directly on Petoa): It was the first time that Liva and Petoa were in such a big stadium. ... Initially, Petoa and Liva will train and play with Brabantia's second team. If they develop well, there is a chance they will be added to the first team. An attempt is also being made to have the players do an internship at a professional club. Discussions about this are ongoing with several professional clubs in Brabant.
[2]: explicitly discounted as non-SIGCOV in the AfD.
[3] (routine primary match recap): Striker Alopua Petoa gave the Pacific nation their first lead of the tournament in the third minute against Tamil Eelam. ... Petoa scored his second in the 73rd minute to give Tuvalu a two goal buffer
[4] (same context as sources 1 and 2): mostly quotes and primary, non-encyclopedic descriptions of interview setting (e.g. Alopua Petoa and Vaisua Liva are in the dugout. They concentrate on following the actions of their new teammates from Brabantia's second team.) and background on Tuvalu with no coverage of either player. The only direct secondary coverage is: Alopua plays his matches in Tuvalu for FC Tofaga. ... Both football players are also internationals of the Tuvaluan team...
... Alopua Petoa (22 years old)
. The rest is mostly non-encyclopedic content regarding the pair's experience with Brabantia, e.g. So Driessen arranged an 'internship' for Alopua and Vaisua at Brabantia, the Sunday premier league club from Eindhoven. They have now been in the Netherlands for a month and will stay until mid-December. They train every day, with Brabantia's second team or individually.
This gives us weak, mostly indirect coverage of a single event in Petoa's career, which does not meet SUSTAINED. JoelleJay (talk) 01:28, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JoelleJay thanks for the ping. I just provided them from the deleted versions for @Das osmnezz and any other interested editors' use. I did not assess in any manner as I have been on and off line and haven't devoted on wiki time to many of the sports articles. Let me know if you need me to do anything further? Happy to help Star Mississippi 01:36, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was just remarking that the better depth of sourcing has not been met. JoelleJay (talk) 02:18, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As he doesn't appear to be active, I'm unfortunately not surprised about a lack of further sourcing. Language barrier doesn't help either. Flagging for @Das osmnezz as I know they're an active editor and may not be watching all Talks. Star Mississippi 12:16, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
