Pin identification?

[edit]

A Google search brings up a pin for a group called Alpha Delta Theta, with the symbol of a pyramid at the center. I don't believe it was ever used for Alpha Delta Theta (social), nor for Alpha Delta Theta (professional) for that matter. Does anyone have an idea which group it belongs to? Perhaps a local fraternity or sorority. Here's the image, accessed 27 February 2022. Jax MN (talk) 21:26, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Early affiliation with Hamilton College

[edit]

Sorority history notes that the founding group, at Transylvania College (Lexington, KY) was affiliated with nearby Hamilton College, also in Lexington. Apparently, Hamilton was a wholly-owned subsidiary school of Transylvania College. As the affiliation with a junior college prevented Alpha Theta from joining an NPC sorority, this begs several questions:

  1. How many chapters did Alpha Theta have, prior to petitioning the "unnamed sorority" for membership? Was the petition declined simply because one or more members of Alpha Theta were students at the affiliated junior college, making the Transylvania chapter less acceptable?
  2. If the Hamilton group was a separate chapter, ought it be listed among the Alpha Delta Theta chapters? As things stand, it appears it was just a feeder school for Alpha chapter
  3. Were there any other Alpha Theta chapters that ought to have been listed in the chapter table, even if these were eventually disbanded with the creation of Alpha Delta Theta? The dialog explains quick formation of eight chapters after 1919, but without a separate Hamilton branch. Jax MN (talk) 16:12, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
