As one of the most important labor unions in the pre-American Federation of Labor (AFL) and AFL periods, as well as a formative union in American history (e.g., the focus, along with autos and rubber, of much of the AFL's organizing efforts from 1910 to the mid-1950s), I'd argue the AA rises to Mid-Level importance. Major excisions[edit]

With the creation of articles on the Homestead strike, 1901 U.S. steel recognition strike, 1919 steel strike and SWOC, I cut most of these sections down radically and inserted {{main}} tags in the appropriate sections to direct the reader to these other articles. This has helped to radically reduce the size of this article, and bring it back under the size guidelines recommended by Wikipedia. - Tim1965 20:13, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
