Liner notes

[edit]

My CD of On Land has the Brian Eno essay that is currently cited in the article. However, I used to own a vinyl copy which had completely different text, plus a diagram, on the back cover. This was Eno's description of a three-speaker setup that he had found useful (and cheaper than quadraphonic systems, a recent phenomenon when On Land was released). As I recall the sytem involved wiring a small third speaker to the positive terminal of the left output and the negative terminal of the right output (or vice-versa). Perhaps it's worth mentioning this other text in the article. Unfortunately the $%#@* moving company lost my vinyl copy, so I no longer have it for reference. I'll poke around the web and see if I can find more info, unless someone else can post it in the meantime. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 04:14, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a FYI - the original vinyl contained both the above mentioned text, along with what is currently cited in the article. The article text was printed as a small folded sheet that came with the record, with the speaker essay, as mentioned, appearing on the back of the sleeve. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.138.236.178 (talk) 14:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rubbish

[edit]

I've taken out this ridiculous statement:

"Interestingly, the track is probably the one that "stands out" most, containing as it does many startling effects that elevate it above the ambient noodling of the rest of the album."

Bad in so many spectacular ways. --IRONY-POLICE (talk) 13:11, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
