Status of AIT employees
[edit]I removed the following sentences from the article because I am pretty sure that this information is dated and not current.
- "The staff consists of nominally private citizens, but these are officials of the United States Department of State who are technically on leave, although they continue to collect seniority [citation needed]. Funding for AIT comes exclusively from the United States government [citation needed]."
Please return this to the main page if you can find a current reference. I will keep looking myself.--M4701 14:42, 25 July 2006 (UTCt
I have supplied the citation (Section 503 of the Foreign Service Act of 1980, as amended by the Department of State Authorization Act, Fiscal Year 2003) and reworded the correction. Mattremote (talk) 07:11, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
corporate details
[edit]Who are the shareholders in AIT and should it not be properly called "American Institute in Taiwan, Inc." or does it have a long corporate type name...maybe not? any one know?
Regards. Staighre (talk) 21:33, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
AIT is a non-profit organization and has no shareholders. It is simply the "American Institute in Taiwan" or AIT and is not Incorporated or Limited or anything else. Mattremote (talk) 07:13, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
David Dean
[edit]The link for David Dean, the director, should not point to david dean, the football coach — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.48.72.160 (talk) 23:54, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
"Non-profit profit corporation"
[edit]What is meant by "non-profit profit corporation"? Kind regards, Matt Heard (talk) 07:25, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
[[Diplomacy|diplomatic relations]]
[edit]If I'm browsing to an article expounding on the particulars of a facet of diplomatic relations between two nations, I probably don't need a first-grade primer on what diplomacy is.
However, if I see a sentence about the US establishing diplomatic relations with China and I click on that link, I'm probably going to be less surprised by finding information on US relations with China than I would be by finding a basic primer on diplomacy. Jsharpminor (talk) 04:50, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- And just in case some user has actually gotten this far and still doesn't have the first clue of what diplomacy is, I have reinstated the link to the Diplomacy article earlier in the lead. Jsharpminor (talk) 04:58, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose to merge Talk:American institute in taiwan into Talk:American Institute in Taiwan. Because American institute in taiwan is only a redirect page for American Institute in Taiwan for a long time; Talk:American institute in taiwan is only a blank page from this talk page was created until now, I think it is a good idea to complete this page merger.
