This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Terminology - French - regional disparities

The following statement only applies in Europe and Africa. French-Canadians never use Amérique to refer to the United States. I feel the statement needs to be rectified.

Why 2 articles?

There is also an article New World which seems to be about the same territory as this one. Does WP need both of them? BookeWorme (talk) 20:48, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

While the "new world" article is about the same territory, they both differ in content since they are about 2 different periods of time. I looked at "new world" and it’s about the past of america. It doesn’t have any unnecessary redundancy with this article. It could be compared as how there is an article about the 13 colonies and one about the United States. "largely replaced the indigenous population"

The claim that old world emigration "largely replaced the indigenous population" seen in the introduction is true in some countries in the Americas, such as the United States, but not in countries like Mexico and Peru, where the majority of the population is either of chiefly indigenous or of Mestizo (part European and part Indigenous) descent. 81.96.124.171 (talk) 17:37, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
