Ashley Force

[edit]

I have looked for a reliable source which states that Ashley Force resides in Anaheim Hills and, to date, have not been able to find any. A link to her fan site is insufficient unless said fan site specifically mentions that she resides in Anaheim, California. A link to tv.com's open-access trivia page is insufficient. And, for the record, I hold myself to these same guidelines: I know personally that Rod Carew lived in Anaheim Hills, however I can't find an source for this, either, which means it does not belong in Wikipedia.  X  S  G  03:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The web site I used as a reference, www.ashleyforce.com, seemed to be pretty official and was linked through the John Force Racing corporate site. The tab on the site under statistics states that she resides in Anaheim Hills. I believe this is a good source. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 03:15, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that if you can link directly to the information, it's a good source. You can't expect someone to scour a website looking for confirmation of a fact.  X  S  G  03:30, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is a reference! Now, wanna help me find one for Rod? ;)  X  S  G  03:33, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping me out with that link (you fixed it just as I figured it out). Now I'll try to help you out with your link on Rod Carew! [update: See NY Times article now added]. Alanraywiki (talk) 03:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Teamwork! Thanks!  X  S  G  03:51, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Community Associations

[edit]

Within the section on Government, there is this paragraph:

Twenty three community associations are within Anaheim Hills, led by the Anaheim Hills Planned Community Association, which oversees the entire community of Anaheim Hills. Two councils represent the community, the Canyon Hills Community Council and the Anaheim Hills Citizens Coalition.

I can't find anything to substantiate this, and I don't believe that the Anaheim Hills Planned Community Association covers all of Anaheim Hills. It is my understanding that the Anaheim Hills Planned Community Association only covers the master planned community built by Texaco in the 70s. It does not include the area of Anaheim Hills east of Canyon Rim along Serrano (i.e. The Highlands, all of the Summit communities.)

I think it would be better to remove this paragraph and replace it with one talking about the East Anaheim District Neighborhood Council. The neighborhood councils are organized by the City to help set priorities for CDBG funds. This would also give us a good way to define the boundaries of Anaheim Hills in some meaningful way.

I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts. Grant (talk) 00:11, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Events

[edit]

There are a few notable annual events in Anaheim Hills that I think bear noting in this article. What are people's thoughts of including a section on the Fourth of July parade and fireworks show and on the fiesta at San Antonio Catholic Church. I will admit, these events probably don't matter to most people, but if somebody is already reading the article on Anaheim Hills, this might be information of use to them. Grant (talk) 00:32, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If there there are reliable, 3rd party sources for the events then they're probably noteworthy. However we shouldn't seek to entice people to attend the events or tell them where to park. If there are historic or especially notable things about the events those should be included. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 01:42, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Will Beback is correct, and I'd like to further add that we as Wikipedian editors need to be careful about not turning articles like this one into a travel brochure. It must be encyclopedic. We're a team, however, so if there's something you'd like to say, find a second-party source that documents it so we can add it as a reference, and say it. If it needs help, we're here to do so. Contrariwise, we'd love your help with cleaning up any of our messes.  :)  X  S  G  04:04, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Anaheim Hills wanted to incorporate into a separate city (but all efforts ended in 2008), therefore it should be listed in the Secession article under U.S. City secession proposals. Along with the San Fernando Valley, the Corona County and Mojave Desert County proposals for separate counties (Anaheim attempted this in the 1870's and again in the 2000's), and the rejection of city annexation in the "West Island" of Indio, California to become one of California's smallest cities. + 71.102.7.77 (talk) 22:57, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vladimir Guerrero

[edit]

I've changed the note about Vlad Guerrero being a player on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He signed a contract with the Texas Rangers for the 2010 season. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Guerrero. And here: http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=115223. But the best source I can find for Guerrero living in Anaheim Hills is from 2007: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/alvino-74766-guerrero-says.html. As he no longer plays in Anaheim, it seems like a possibility that he no longer lives there either. I'll do some more research. Unfortunately, now the reference on that spot is incorrect. Thoughts? MattB in LA (talk) 17:05, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The notable natives and residents section includes those that formerly lived there but now have moved. Because Guerrero has a reference from a reliable source, it is okay to keep that entry. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 17:16, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
