Analog multipliers[edit]

There's a cute trick used to build analog multipliers. Analog multiplication is hard to implement, but analog addition, subtraction, and squaring can be done. So the relationship a * b = ((a + b)^2 - (a - b)^2) / 4 is used to build some analog multipliers from op amps and squarers. --John Nagle (talk) 05:43, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

four quadrant[edit]

The article could better explain four quadrant multipliers, and specifically keeping track of the sign. I believe some of the ICs mentioned are four quadrant. Gah4 (talk) 22:31, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
