Move back to Sri Anandamoyi Ma[edit]

It was moved under the pretext that the original title was typo. But, it was not. And, this needs to be moved back to it's original title that was erroneously changed. Aditya(talk • contribs) 15:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Evidence to what? That it was not a typo? A simple google search would show that it wasn't. The presence of multiple English spellings of a Bengali name, doesn't indicate that one or the other is a typo. Aditya(talk • contribs) 06:49, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the (granted, not the best source) Google results say: Sri Anandamayi Ma 8930 hits and Sri Anandamoyi Ma 1760 hits. Evidence to what exactly? What would constitute an evidence to that? I'd really need advise here. You have already agreed that the rational for the original move was erroneous. The rationale that the original location was the result of a typo is erroneous. However, the decision to move to the current location is not necessarily - a Google search shows that the current location is the more common one. Ah! Forget it. If the silly move is to remain, then let be so. No need to go into the legal exercise of proving and counter proving an action borne out of a misinterpretation. sequences[edit]

In the section 'Early life and sadhana' we read that 'In 1918, she moved to Bajitpur, where she stayed until 1924'. The next sentence is, 'When Nirmala was about 17, she went to live with her husband in Ashtagram.' She was seventeen in 1913. So presumably the move to Ashtagram was before the move to Bajitpur.

I have moved the succeeding sentence 'On his return from the office at the end of the working day, Bholanath often found Nirmala lying on the kitchen floor, the food half cooked or burnt.' to follow reference 15, where it seems to belong, these incidents apparently beginning after the move Dhaka in 1924.

'At one point, Bholanath called an exorcist to 'cure' her—those attempts failed, and finally a physician told him that she was experiencing God intoxication rather than mental illness.' As it stands, this sentence follows on from the description of her husband's request to be initiated, but clearly that was not the true sequence. The sentence is referenced, but it would be helpful and interesting if the dates of 'At one point' and 'finally' could be entered in the article. Spicemix (talk) 10:14, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

bliss/joy[edit]

The article is sometimes glossing Anandamayi as "Joy Permeated Mother", as in Yoganananda's Autobiography of a Yogi, and sometimes as "Bliss Permeated Mother". The Sanskrit ananda means "bliss"; nanda means "joy". I see that Hallstrom, often cited here, has titled her book Mother of Bliss. I have edited the "joy" references accordingly. please correct this inaccuracy.

this sentence doesnt make sense: "a Samadhi was built in the courtyard of her Kankhal ashram"[edit]

Samadhi is a STATE of consciousness. So how can a "Samadhi" be built? (its like saying a "Happiness" was built).

and then it goes on to say: "a shrine was later erected over the samadhi". again, this doesnt make any sense! (its like saying: a shrine was later erected over the happiness).

if there is a deeper meaning to these words, then they should be explained to the reader, otherwise its confusing or misleading.
