That Anavel Gato is of Spanish heritage is opinion. "Gato" may mean cat in Spanish, but in Italian the word for cat is "gatto" and pronounced identically. Similarly, the word "gateau" is French for cake. At no point in either the series or the written materials about it does anyone hint at Gato's ancestry at all. If I am wrong, please provide a citation.


I've removed the comment that implies that Vega from Street Fighter II is inspired by Gato. Given that at most 3 or 4 episodes were released by the time of Street Fighter II's release (July 1st, 1991; the first two episodes of 0083 were released at the end of May, according to the article, with single episodes following every "1 to 2 months"), it's merely pointless speculation without any references accompanying it. -- g026r 03:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
