New phylogeny proposed

[edit]

New member of Diaphoretickes: supergroup Provora consists of 2 phyla: nibblerids (Nibbleridia) + nebulids (Nebulidia, with Ancoracysta)

Reference:

Besides this there is an error in the taxobox: As text states twice, this taxon defines a sister clade to Haptista. The box shows it erraneously as a member of Haptista. Also the new study phylogeny lists this clade as a sister of Haptista. However, Haptista are no longer a member of Chromista. Insted, Chromista, Haptista, and Provora appear as direct members of Diaphoretickes (Fig. 2).

Species Colponema marisrubri classified as Ancoracysta marisrubri by Thomas Cavalier-Smith, is again re-classified by the authors into a new genus as Nebulomonas marisrubri. The organelles of this species are named toxicysts or amphoracysts now.

@Ernsts Thank you for the new bibliography, it will be updated soon. As for Haptista including Ancoracysta twista in the taxobox, it was due to the most recent taxonomy by Cavalier-Smith (see https://doi.org/10.1007/s00709-017-1147-3), where Haptista was composed of three subphyla Alveidia (Ancoracysta), Centrohelea and Haptophytina; it is not an error in the taxobox but rather in the main text, since Haptista included Alveidia in the phylogenetic analyses previous to this one, but for some reason wikieditors assumed they were sister groups, which they still aren't. Lastly, Haptista and Provora are still members of Chromista. Chromista is still the paraphyletic kingdom that unites Haptista, Cryptista and TSAR clade (SAR + Telonemia). Chromista hasn't yet been renamed to only include the TSAR clade, as far as I know. The source you cited doesn't even mention Chromista. ☽ Snoteleks17:34, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarification about Chromista and update coming soon.--Ernsts (talk) 19:30, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Some details according to taxonomy, just AFAIK (please correct/complete):
Supergroup: Diaphoretickes
  • Supergroup: Provora (within Chromista? Appears now to be polyphyletic?)
    • Phylum: Nebulidia (moved from Haptista)
      • Subphylum: - (was Alveidia)
        • Class: Nebulidea (was Alveidea)
          • Order: Nebulidida (was Alveida)
            • Family: Nebulidae (was Ancoracystidae)
              • Species: Ancoracysta twista (single species in genus Ancoracysta)
              • Species: Nebulomonas marisrubri (single species in genus Nebulomonas, moved from Ancoracysta marisrubri/Colponema marisrubri)
    • Phylum: Nibbleridia
      • Class: Nibbleridea
        • Order: Nibbleridida
          • Family: Nibbleridae
            • Species: Nibbleromonas quarantinus (type species of genus Nibbleromonas besides N. arcticus, N. kosolapovi, and N. curacaus)
            • Species: Ubysseya fretuma (single species in genus Ubysseya)

Yes, that is all correct! Provora does nest within Chromista, even though that hasn't yet been mentioned in any paper. ☽ Snoteleks21:44, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
