Take about Andres ALmonaster y Roxas

Changes[edit]

I changed some of the article due to the fact that the first Church was a parish Church and not a Cathedral at the time, it was not make a Cathedral until 1794, also it was not pulled down in 1850, it was remodeled due to the 1849 damaged from the center towner falling onto the roof. This came about due to John Kirwan the contractor having supports removed. "He provided the funds for building its first cathedral, in which he was buried soon afterwards. This first cathedral was pulled down in 1850, but Don Andres' tomb has been preserved in the new building. After the fire of 1788, he built at his own expense a public school for the city, as well as the house for the use of the clergy and the charity hospital at the then very considerable cost of $114,000. He rebuilt the town hall and the Cabildo, the buildings on either side of the cathedral, the hospital, the boys' school, a chapel for the Ursulines, and he founded the Leper Hospital." --Margrave1206 03:21, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

The Legacy section states that his name was Almonester, which was then amended to Almonaster. The article uses both forms somewhat indiscriminately. The title in particular uses the a form. If the change was made posthumously, should the article title and internal name be changed to the e form? If not, should the a form be used throughout for consistency?

I don't know enough about the subject to lean in one direction or the other. If anyone is better placed, could you make a judgement call? Almonaster (talk) 18:30, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
