Genre

After watching the film several times, I checked TCM to see what genre had been assigned to it by TCM and by extension AFI. I changed it to drama. It is possible to imagine this script played by a different cast with a witty, light delivery. Norma Shearer comes to mind, for one. But this is serious and even foreboding from the beginning.
