NPOV template

[edit]

I've removed the NPOV template as it refers to the dispute discussion on this talk page but there isn't one. If somebody feels, the template needs to be there, put it back in place and start a discussion here. Calistemon (talk) 13:51, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Information from AngloGold Ashanti

[edit]

Hello, I introduced myself a while back at the time of registering in the Talk Page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:AngloGold_Ashanti.

My name is Fundisa working for AngloGold Ashanti. I’m new to Wikipedia but understand and respect the rules of maintaining an approach in good faith and a neutral point of view. Additionally, I wish to state up front that I fully recognize that, since I work for AngloGold Ashanti, I have a clear conflict of interest in matters relating to the company, hence my commitment to restrict my engagement to the Talk Page. My aim for participating is principally to draw attention to factual errors on the page and to suggest additional content that would help explain AngloGold Ashanti’s business and operations more effectively. With that in mind, I have drawn attention to the following points: 1. That you consider referring to the company using its full and correct name AngloGold Ashanti which web address is www.anglogoldashanti.com . The sections I am referring to here are:

 o Sources: wherein the website is www.anglogold.com;
 o References: e.g. reference numbers: 4; 7; 12; and 15; as well as
 o External links: where the homepage is stated as http://www.anglogold.com/.

2. I would like to flag that the company, AngloGold Ashanti, has no affiliation to Anglo American. Here I am referring to:

 o Sources: where the third source states “Anglo American: The Alternative Report http://www.waronwant.org/?lid=14777 ”; and
 o In August 2007 British charity War on Want published a report accusing AngloGold Ashanti's parent company Anglo American of profiting from the abuse of people in the developing countries in which the company operates.[9].

If there are no concerns raised I intend making these changes in two weeks’ time. I would also like to update the site with the latest set of results.

Some water under the bridge, but it might be worth noting that there was some relationship between Anglo American and AngloGold Ashanti back in 2007. As the referenced article puts it, "... in Ghana and Mali, communities see little of the big money earned by Anglo American's former subsidiary AngloGold Ashanti, until recently 41% owned, and still 17% owned by the London-based company". I'll edit the relevant section to make this clearer; I also removed claims that appear to relate only to Anglo American, but not AngloGold Ashanti. Klbrain (talk) 22:30, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
